Over the years, foreigners living in Taiwan have always made up a large part of the music scene, as jam bands, punk outfits and funky collaborators and also as festival and event organizers. Groups like Dribdas, Feiwu and the Stop Look Listen were early trailblazers in the 90's. By 2000, Taichung had become known for its folky jam bands lead by bands like Milk and 69 Across. Many of these pioneers were featured on a Taiwan Colors Music compilation entitled Foreigners on Taiwan. On the punk front, The Deported left a dent in the local scene, and Consider the Meek helped give exposure to bands from overseas. Since then, numerous expat bands have created their own scene separate from the local indie rock quarter, while others like The Deadly Vibes and New Hong Kong Hair City have cemented friendships with diverse homespun bands. In this section, you will find groups that include multinational talent including bands with Taiwanese members, furthermore, most of these artists play or have played together regularly at local live houses and foreign organized events like May Jam, Peace Fest and Spring Scream.
