In early 2005, and American from Maine named Andrew McKenzie got together a nine piece international ensemble including musicians from the US, UK, Argentina, Japan and Taiwan to play rocksteady, ska and roots reggae. Andrew's vocals lent a bold authenticity to the Jamaican music he was mimicking, and the group spearheaded a small reggae scene that still exists on the island today.

After two years of playing around the island at a variety of venues including nite clubs, beach parties and reggae events, Andrew headed back to Maine breaking up The Sound Clashes. However, the remedy he was searching for can now be heard in bands like Public Radio, High Tide and Taimaica Soundsystem.
