Established in 2002 by entrepreneur and electronica aficionado Huang Yi Chin, Silent Agreement quickly expanded to be a major distributor of foreign indie music, home to various local musicians and also a festival organizer. Yi Chin originally started the company as a way of self-releasing Red Moon by his own electronica project 78bpm, which he quickly followed up with a seminal experimental pop and electro comp featuring bands local artists like KbN and DJ Fish, Lim Giong alongside accomplished Chinese bands like Cold Fairyland. By 2004, Silent Agreement had expanded to distributing foreign indie pop, post-rock and electronic artists including Camera Obscura, The Album Leaf and Four Tet as well as Hong Kong bands The Marshmallow Kisses and My Little Airport to name a few. The label also became active in organizing festivals, first taking command of the electronic stage at Formoz, and eventually hosting their own two day indie pop affair dubbed the Grass Festival. Silent Agreement has release a couple Grass Fest compilations offering samples of many of the local Taiwanese indie pop bands that have released material on the label including Dolly's Pillbox, Freckle, Nylas, Radiobear and 8mm Sky. The more recent Like A Star compilation is a collaboration with the Come With Us collective that runs the White Label art markets at Ximen Ding. Select Silent Agreement releases can be found on the Pacifiction Records online CD shop.
