SAUCEBOX RECORDS

Suacebox was started by a punk aficionado by the name of Joehan who had originally come from Tainan in the south of Taiwan. Around 2004, Joehan tried to expand to Taipei, and despite having imported numerous popular bands ranging in style from the Queers to Mr. T Experience and Flogging Molly, could not thrive in Taiwan's biggest metropolis. The company maintained connections to top punk labels in the US like Side One Dummy, Look Out and BYO Records and their Tainan shop did well selling vinyl records along side underground punk CDs for a while. During this time, Saucebox also got into promoting the local scene through the Tainan pop punk band SM and their local following in the Tainan Punk Alliance. SM actually released their first album on Saucebox before the label faded away.
